Business Owner

My name is Brian Hamlin and I am running for State Representative for the 9th Norfolk District.

Let me tell you a bit about my background. I grew up in Norfolk, attended the local schools, as did my family, and have been working and running a local business (Hamlin Cabinet Corp) for over 38 years. I am not and will not be a full-time politician, but will stay connected to the needs and input of my fellow residents. I enjoy interacting with people.

As a local employer, I know the impact that the decisions of the state house can have on local businesses and employees. I am proud to have the endorsement of the IBEW Local 2222 and the Massachusetts AFL-CIO.
I have the personal experience to balance the needs of workers and owners as I have done for my own business for many years. I respectfully ask for your vote this election.

Early voting continues through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

If you support me, please tell/call a friend, put out a lawn sign, or volunteer. for the campaign.

Gun Reform

Do common-sense gun violence prevention measures make sense to you?

I believe they do. I have pledged to vote on the side of gun safety if elected to office. We have a right to own firearms, but we must use common sense in developing standards for firearm ownership. If we build public awareness, limit the easy and immediate purchase of firearms, and encourage responsible gun storage we can start to turn the tide of this major crisis.

I have been vocal on having increased gun safety laws such as banning bump stocks, high capacity magazines and assault rifles such as AR-15 type weapons. Why? Because it makes sense! It is a beginning toward reform. By working with the other members of the House of Representatives on responsible gun control measures and providing mental health resources, we can limit gun violence. Neither is a universal solution, but together, they will make our communities safer.

I believe that we can make progress on Gun Reform (and other issues) and I will welcome everyone into the conversation, regardless of what side of the issue they are on.

Residents deserve a leader committed to the future and one who can work with everyone. You also deserve a leader committed to bold, progressive action. I am that kind of leader and will always strive to be. I ask for your vote in this election.

Early voting starts October 22 and runs through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

If you support me, please tell/call a friend, put out a lawn sign, or volunteer with the campaign.

The Opioid Crisis

In 2014, my family was devastated when our son, Brian Jr., though he was in recovery at the time, died due to a seizure that may have been caused by effects of his addiction.

Our personal nightmare started innocently enough when a physician stitched in a Vicodin pain pump following a shoulder surgery in 2003. Little was known then about the potential dangers of narcotics. Since then, our Commonwealth has taken steps to combat the opioid crisis.

This last August, Governor Baker signed into law Bill H.4742, which establishes the Commonwealth as a national leader in the fight against the opioid epidemic.
As your state representative, I would support further legislative action to address the continuing opioid crisis head-on.

I am a Community Volunteer for the SAFE (Support for Addicts and Families through Empowerment) Coalition of Franklin, a group of community partners who provide support, education, treatment options, and coping mechanisms for those affected by substance abuse disorders. I am endorsed by and active in Learn to Cope, a peer-led support network for families dealing with addiction and recovery. And the Brian Hamlin Jr. Fund has enabled more than 30 individuals to enter inpatient treatment facilities and sober living communities. The Fund hosts events to increase awareness around substance abuse, provide resources to outreach for assistance, and remind people they are not alone, and that help is available.

If elected, I pledge to use my personal experience to carry the message of hope to addicts and families who still suffer from the opioid crisis.

Early voting continues through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

If you support me, please tell/call a friend or volunteer for the campaign.

Education

My name is Brian Hamlin and I am running for State Representative for the 9th Norfolk District.

I am a strong advocate for public schools and strongly believe that the focus of our local schools should be funding for teachers and curriculum. I believe that in order to do this we must have parents, community leaders, educators, and the State House commit to improving public schools for all students. In addition, I strongly believe that our children are our most precious resource and that we can make a difference in their success through effective legislative action.

The level of education offered to our children has to be continually evolving to keep up with the evolution of their lives. I know that when families and the community get involved in their children’s education, students attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and perform at higher levels.

Educators can’t tackle public education alone. They need help from families and the community, but in addition, they need funding from Beacon Hill. I will work for increased funding for public education, from preschool through higher education.

I respectfully ask for your vote this Election.

Early voting starts October 22 and continues through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

Women's Health

Hi,
My name is Brian Hamlin and I am running for State Representative for the 9th Norfolk District.

One of the proudest achievements of my campaign so far has been an endorsement from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, that said: "You have demonstrated strong support for policies that protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health information and services”.

I believe that all people have a right to reproductive health care, including birth control. I believe that women facing unintended pregnancy have a right to an abortion after their options have been explained to them. And I believe in the emergency law 2260 (the “NASTY Women Act”), passed by the State Senate in July, that protects women against old laws restricting abortion under certain circumstances.

Fortunately, even though federal abortion laws are in danger of being overturned since Brett Kavanaugh was appointed to the US Supreme Court, we live in a state where abortion rights are protected under state law, even if Roe v. Wade gets overturned.

A vote for me will ensure that your representative will always vote on the side of women’s rights to reproductive health care.

Early voting started on October 22 and runs through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

If you support me, please tell/call a friend, put out a lawn sign, or volunteer for the campaign.

LGBTQ Rights

I’m Brian Hamlin and I am running for State Representative for the 9th Norfolk District.

One of the important questions on the ballot and for our generation concerns LGBTQ rights. I am strongly in favor of equal rights and protections for all and plan to vote Yes on Question 3. A YES vote keeps in place the current law, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity in places of public accommodation. I also support initiatives such as H4664 - Prohibiting Gender Conversion Therapy. My opponent did NOT support that bill when it was recently voted upon.

I have received the endorsement of the Bay State Stonewall Democrats and I will be a strong New Voice for the district in support of its many LGBTQ families and all constituents.

I respectfully ask for your vote this Election.

Early voting starts October 22 and runs through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

A New Voice, A New Vision

I will bring “A New Voice, A New Vision” to our District.

What does this mean?

It means I will listen to all constituents. We may disagree sometimes, but you will know you can always easily talk face-to-face with me as your representative. I will hold local office hours for my constituents so they can discuss their concerns with me in person. I will be open to discussing all issues. I will never berate or block a constituent on social media.

My office hours will sometimes be during the day, and sometimes in the evening, for those of you who work out of the district during the day.

My “New Vision’ looks beyond just cutting taxes to one of inclusion, improving our schools, addressing the opioid crisis, and sustainable energy options for future generations. Those are to name just a few. Watch the debate on Medfield Public TV on October 30 to see the difference!

I am a local businessman, so I know about balancing budgets and the need for my employees to make a living wage I also know about the importance of investing in the future. It is time for a New Voice and a New Vision for our District.

I ask for your vote this election.
Early voting starts October 22 and runs through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.
