The Opioid Crisis

In 2014, my family was devastated when our son, Brian Jr., though he was in recovery at the time, died due to a seizure that may have been caused by effects of his addiction.

Our personal nightmare started innocently enough when a physician stitched in a Vicodin pain pump following a shoulder surgery in 2003. Little was known then about the potential dangers of narcotics. Since then, our Commonwealth has taken steps to combat the opioid crisis.

This last August, Governor Baker signed into law Bill H.4742, which establishes the Commonwealth as a national leader in the fight against the opioid epidemic.
As your state representative, I would support further legislative action to address the continuing opioid crisis head-on.

I am a Community Volunteer for the SAFE (Support for Addicts and Families through Empowerment) Coalition of Franklin, a group of community partners who provide support, education, treatment options, and coping mechanisms for those affected by substance abuse disorders. I am endorsed by and active in Learn to Cope, a peer-led support network for families dealing with addiction and recovery. And the Brian Hamlin Jr. Fund has enabled more than 30 individuals to enter inpatient treatment facilities and sober living communities. The Fund hosts events to increase awareness around substance abuse, provide resources to outreach for assistance, and remind people they are not alone, and that help is available.

If elected, I pledge to use my personal experience to carry the message of hope to addicts and families who still suffer from the opioid crisis.

Early voting continues through November 2. Or vote on Election Day, Tuesday, November 6.

If you support me, please tell/call a friend or volunteer for the campaign.
